TREAT EVERY GUN AS LOADED
When handed a gun or you pick up your own, CHECK that is EMPTY (do not feel embarrassed to check when handed a gun by someone else).
Never point a gun at anybody.
Always carry gun with the action open.
Do not load gun until on the station and you are ready to shoot.
If the gun does not fire when you pull the trigger KEEP pointing it down range in a safe direction and WAIT at least 30 seconds before you open it. It may hang-fire. (If in competition wait until the referee instructs you to open it, you may forfeit a target if you open the gun before being told to do so. KEEPING it pointed down range in a safe direction.)
While learning (novice) it is recommended to load only one cartage at a time when shooting singles.
Do not leave gun unattended at gun club. When not in use keep locked in the boot of your car.
Store guns and ammunition under lock and key as per licensing laws.
Do not shoot with those that do not practice a safe shooting policy.
